Purpose-driven small business owners create success by managing their mindset.

The thing is, so many purpose-driven small business owners are struggling because they aren’t managing their mindset. They’re stuck in a cycle of overwhelm, procrastination, and self-doubt. They’re trying to manage their time and set goals, but they’re struggling to make progress because they’re not addressing the underlying mindset issues that are holding them back.

Purpose-driven, but falling short

So many purpose-driven small business owners started their business because they felt called to fulfill a deeper purpose with their life and their talents. Instead of fulfilling that purpose, though, they end up stuck. They are held back by a mindset of scarcity, fear, and limitation. At the same time, they long to operate from a place of abundance, possibility, and growth.

The future: Mindset as a necessity, not an accessory

But I believe that in the future, managing your mindset as good business and personal practice will become the norm. We’ll reach a point where mindset will be widely considered as important for small business owners as marketing and operations. It will go from being seen as a nice-to-have add-on, to an absolute necessity.

Substance, not fluff: The science of mindset

Neuroscientific research continues to reveal insights about the human brain and how we use it. Neuroscientists have demonstrated that our thoughts change the physical structure of our brain over time. These changes can dramatically alter the course of our lives. How we choose to think and feel impacts everything from our choices, to what we believe is possible for us, to our health, to the expression of our genes.

The way of the future: Harnessing the power of the mind

The amazing thing is, we have the ability to direct that process by developing the skills to effectively navigate and manage our mindset. We have the power to change the structure of our brain (through our thoughts) so that we can feel better, be more successful, and improve our physical, mental, and emotional health. I truly believe that harnessing that power is the way of the future for small business owners and solopreneurs.

We’re already seeing evidence of this shift. More and more small business owners are prioritizing their mindset and well-being, and achieving incredible results. Titans of online business like Marie Forleo, James Wedmore, Amy Porterfield, and Jenna Kutcher have been open about how instrumental mindset shifts and transformations have been to their success. They even incorporate mindset work into their bestselling business courses.

How mindset impacts small business owners

When you learn how to manage and cultivate your mindset, you learn how to get out of your own way. If small business owners and solopreneurs develop the meta skill of mindset management now, they’ll be well-positioned to succeed and thrive in the future.

They equip themselves to navigate and overcome hurdles like self-doubt, procrastination, perfectionism, indecision, and fear of failure… All of which can hinder success, both personally and professionally.

They cultivate and develop essential traits for growth and achievement in business and in life. Things like discipline, resilience, problem-solving, creativity, curiosity, and even self-compassion.

If small business owners and solopreneurs don’t actively manage their mindset? There are a few possibilities:

  • They might get stuck or be left behind because of (totally manageable) mindset issues.
  • They could use fear, self-criticism, and tremendous self-pressure to motivate themselves, ultimately creating an unhealthy and unstainable situation
  • They may think there’s something wrong with them, when they’ve simply needed to manage their mindset. It’s kind of like being frustrated that you can’t reach your destination, even though you aren’t using the steering wheel to turn in the direction you want to go.

Change is up to us

It’s our responsibility, as purpose-driven small business owners, to stand up for this new way of operating.

We are called to create a new paradigm that prioritizes mindset management as an integral aspect of business and personal success.

It’s our duty to witness to the importance of cultivating a thriving, growth-based mindset, so other small business owners don’t have to languish behind the invisible walls of self-doubt, fear of failure, or overwhelm.

Together, we can show the world that purpose-driven small business owners create success by managing their mindset.

Are you in?

So, let me ask you: Do you want to embrace the power of your mindset to create the business and life you want? Are you ready to use the most powerful tool you have – your brain – to overcome everything that’s standing between you and success?

The mindset work you do now lays the foundation for your success in the future. Take advantage of the opportunity to change your thinking, change your business, and change your life.
